Torrents9.so: Should You Avoid Torrent Search Engines?
SHARE

Torrent9.so is a Torrent Search Engine Site That Floods Users with Unwanted Offers

Torrent9.so is a torrent search engine that provides users with a decentralized method for file sharing. In this way, it is very similar to other websites like ThePirateBay.org and other less than reputable peer-to-peer file sharing sites. However, Torrent9.so floods users with pesky advertisements for affiliate programs, and it may potentially lead to users unwittingly downloading browser hijackers.

The site itself doesn’t have any torrents, but it has torrent-related content like lists of torrent sites and reviews of private trackers. Torrent9.so is a clone of the popular torrent site, Torrentz2.eu, which closed down after the Department of Justice shut down the original Torrentz. Although malware experts didn’t detect any threats on the site, many users will commonly experience issues with third-party content that the site promotes.

The website mainly exists to provide search services to users looking to find and download torrents. At times, users may encounter illegal content such as pirated software and movies. However, the reason why malware experts strongly recommend against visiting Torrent9.so is the repeated complaints from users that have encountered adware and other unwanted applications from Torrent9.so’s affiliate advertisements.

Additionally, these advertisements may present themselves in various annoying ways such as pop-ups, new tabs in the browser, or unwanted redirects. Visitors to Torrent9.so should be careful of some of the sites that the search engine directs them to. The problem is that some of those sites use unusual domains or addresses that resemble the addresses of other popular reliable pages.

This may be an indication that they have been directed to a potentially dangerous website. Ultimately, in addition to the fact that the content they encounter on Torrent9.so may land them in legal trouble, users may find themselves the victims of other malware infections downloaded through search results on the site, including malware, adware, ransomware, trojans and other unwanted malicious software. Users should also enable their anti-malware products to block or delete any potential threats arriving through Torrent9.so, and immediately scan for threats after visiting the site.

If you are still having trouble, consider contacting remote technical support options.
