Weather Zero Displays Advertisements

Annoying potentially unwanted programs, adware and browser hijackers, can bombard users with ads. In most cases, potentially unwanted programs or PUPs are accidentally installed by users, and create a less than optimum web browsing experience. These kinds of programs mainly exist to display sponsored ads in an effort to generate revenue for the program’s operators.

Weather Zero is a program that falls under the adware/browser hijacker/PUP category. Adware, browser hijackers and PUPs need the user’s permission to enter the computer, but users often do not read the details they are presented in the installation wizard, as user agreements can be confusing. As a result, users are not aware they have installed some unwanted application along with the program they originally wanted to have. So when suddenly that unwanted program performs various undesirable actions, for the affected user, it may feel like a potential threat. Oftentimes, users consent to whatever modifications Weather Zero and other similar programs perform, but, as mentioned, they fail to read carefully the installation guidelines that describe what modifications will be made.

PUPs like Weather Zero often spread through dubious websites, shady software bundles, or fake installers/updates claiming to be for legitimate programs. These programs have several potentially unwanted functionalities, including bombarding users with numerous, unwanted advertisements that may impact the user’s web experience. The ads could be promoting untrustworthy destinations that include shady websites, phony giveaways, phishing portals, questionable online betting/gaming platforms, and more.

PUPs like Weather Zero may also be able to monitor user’s browsing activities including search history, as well as collect device details that include IP address, geolocation, and even browser type. But perhaps the most problematic aspect related to these kinds of programs is that the ads they display may lead users to questionable content.

How Do I Remove Adware, Browser Hijackers, and PUPs from My Computer?

We strongly recommend removing adware, browser hijackers, and PUPs, like Weather Zero. You should scan for and remove unwanted software from your computer by using a reputable malware remediation tool. To prevent the installation of potentially unwanted programs in the future, you should practice good web surfing habits like avoiding questionable freeware sites, torrent pages, and other websites that may host unreliable software.
